This is a list of the core lDOS projects in development yet.
lDebug: Originally forked from FreeDOS Debug/X around 2008. Named NDebug earlier (like the "N" in "Netwide Assembler"), then in 2012 renamed to lDebug.
lDOS boot: Started in 2012 for FAT12 and FAT16 boot sector loaders, in 2017 the FAT32 boot sector loader and the initial loader stage (iniload) were first added. Also in 2017, fdkernpl stage added. In early 2024 the drload and drkernpl stages were added. In 2025 the lkernpl stage was added.
lDOS MBR: altmbr and oldmbr, forked from syslinux MBRs in 2017.
lmacros: Initially in 2008 named cmmacros (later in 2012 renamed to lmacros1), in 2011 there was cm2011 (renamed in 2012 lmacros2), and in 2019 lmacros3 was added.
instsect: Started in 2018.
inicomp: Started in 2018 with the first method, BriefLZ. As of 2026 there are 15 methods.
lDOS: Originally the lDOS flavours of RxDOS (2018, lRxDOS), Enhanced DR-DOS (2023), then MS-DOS v4 (2024). The latter renamed from lMS-DOS to lDOS in 2025. Also used for lDOS flavour of FreeDOS (2026).
RxANSI: Forked from Henrik Haftmann's ANSI in 2008, subsequently the base for TSR example and other TSRs.
lClock: Forked in 2021 from TSR example.
KEEPHOOK: 2021.
SHUFHOOK: 2021.
RENUMBER: 2021.
kernwrap: Script extracted from lDebug in 2024, used for lDOS flavour of Enhanced DR-DOS, lMS-DOS (subsequently lDOS), and lFreeDOS wrapper. Uses any kernpl as well as inicomp, iniload, and/or drload.
